The Lodge Reviews

Emma Carter
We really enjoyed our stay at the lodge! The location was fantastic, with visits to Barmouth Beach, Black Rock Sandsand Angel Bay to see the seals - such a treat. The lodge itself was cosy and warm, though the bed could be better. The hot tub was a lovely bonus after long walks, definitely a highlight for us!
Laura
Honestly, we were pretty disappointed. The garden was overgrown and the chairs were all broken, which was a shame. The fridge was leaking and not working well. Cleaners arrived way too late after check-inand we didn't feel safe using the hot tub. Definitely not somewhere we'd stay again or recommend to anyone. Such a shame.
Emma
Honestly, we were pretty disappointed with this place considering how much it costs. It definitely needs some proper TLC - we could see cobwebs and spiders everywhere, especially behind furniture, which was a bit gross. We didn’t even bother trying the hot tub because there were no instructions anywhere, which was frustrating. The internet was a nightmare-slow and dropping out all the time. We noticed the listing now says it’s slow, which I don’t remember seeing when we booked. The photos make the place look bright and airy, but in reality, it’s quite dark and crowded, mainly thanks to all the thick foliage. It does block out the weather and makes it impossible to see outside unless it’s raining. Plus, those single-glazed patio doors wouldn’t be fun in winter. The main bed was sagging and uncomfortable too, so overall, it just didn’t feel cosy or relaxing like we hoped. Definitely not what we expected for the price.
Emma
We had a lovely week at The Lodge, though if we'd known there were no direct walks from the property, we might have thought twice. It’s a shame because it meant a lot of driving, which we usually try to avoid on holiday. The lodge itself is stunning and super spacious, perfect for relaxing. The private garden was great for our dog, even if the pics make it look more open than it really is - it's quite enclosed. The location wasn’t quite right for us, as it’s right next to a busy main road, which is a bit noisy, especially when traffic is fast. Still, overall, a nice place to stay!
Sarah
Cozy cottage, peaceful spot, well set up.
Emily
The cottage was really charming and super comfy, with all the essentials for a relaxing break. We loved the cosy woodland vibe, even though you can catch a faint sound of the main road nearby. It didn’t bother us much, especially with all the bird song filling the air. The hot tub was a definite highlight! The garden’s not the best if your dogs love to jump fences, but ours are older anyway, so it wasn’t an issue. We’d happily return!
Emma
Really cosy place, kept super tidy and in a quiet spot. Parking was easy, perfect for our family and pup!
Rachel
Honestly, we knew the lodge was pretty old, but it was a bit of a shock to find tiny cellar spiders everywhere-like, six of them just chilling in one bedroom alone, all about 5cm long. It’s not something you spot overnightand trying to explain to our 6-year-old that it’s okay to sleep there was quite the task! The whole place seemed to have been neglected cleanliness-wise; it definitely hadn’t been properly cleaned before we arrived. The gardens were overgrown and messyand I ended up having to clear away all the leaves before we could even use the patio or BBQ area. It was clear no one had done any prep for us, which was a bit disappointing. The gardener turned up on the last day around 8:30ish, just as we were getting ready to leave, to tidy up a bit-cutting back plants and mowing the lawns. That was a surprise, especially since it was during our stay, not a changeover day. Also, there was no property info at all-just a laminated sign on the bed telling us to strip the bedding, but nothing about the hot tub or how to use it. I always check if it’s been serviced with chemicals, but there was no info or signs of maintenance. Still, the place itself is lovely, in a great locationand well equipped-if only the cleanliness and info had been better, it would’ve been perfect!
James
We really enjoyed our stay overall. There was a small hiccup when the electricity went out, but a quick call to the helpline and it was sorted swiftly. The staff, especially the young lady I spoke to-who I think was Natalie-were fantastic. It’s reassuring knowing that if anything goes wrong, your team handles it professionally. Truly great service!
Oliver
Lovely cosy cottage tucked away in peaceful woodland surroundings.
Emma
The lodge was really warm and spotless, perfect for relaxing. Loved how private and cosy it felt, especially with the garden. Great spot for exploring the Llyn Peninsula. Thanks a lot, we had a lovely time!
Alex
We loved the place! The hot tub was perfect after a day outand the comfy furniture made it feel like home. Kitchen had everything we needed too.
Emma
Really enjoyed our stay! The house is adorable and perfect for families with kids and a dog since everything is on one level. It was spotless when we arrivedand the welcome gift was a lovely touch. The info folder with local tips was super handy. Great location too, we’d come back!
Emma
The place was quite nice overall, but the kitchen lacked basic equipment, which was a bit disappointing. Also, the front door instructions weren’t clear, especially in an emergency. Could be better!
David
Really comfy and spotless place, though a slightly larger fridge wouldn't hurt, but it's not vital.
Emma
We loved the peaceful setting and the gorgeous garden. Everything we needed was there, both inside and outside. The location suited us perfectlyand the surprise welcome treats were a lovely touch. We’ll return for sure!
Laura M.
This cottage was lovely - nicely decorated and in a peaceful spot, yet super easy to reach the beaches. The space felt just rightand the garden was secure. We’ve already booked again for April!
Emily Carter
We had a fantastic stay! The location was perfectand the place felt really cosy and welcoming. The beds were super comfy, which is always a bonus. We brought our big chow chowand he was completely enclosed - he could have jumped out, but he was perfectly fine. Our kids loved it tooand we’re already planning to come back. The arrival treat of prosecco and cake was a lovely touch. Honestly, what we loved most was how peaceful it was - no crowds or fuss, just like being at home. We’d definitely recommend it!
